Throw a Party for Breast Cancer Awareness

Don’t forget, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month — and there’s still plenty of time to show your support!

We’re big fans of Cook for the Cure, a program created by KitchenAid that gives those passionate about cooking numerous ways to support the fight against breast cancer. Host a dinner party, a shower, or an office potluck, and ask diners to donate to Susan G. Komen for the Cure in lieu of bringing a  gift. Download invitations and other templates to help make party-planning a breeze.

EDITOR’S NOTE: On Facebook, Maria Gray-Whalen expressed concern that we were promoting Komen given their denial of the link between BPA and cancer. (Read the Mother Jones story about the denial, and a Forbes article criticizing that piece.) Our blog editor was unaware of this denial, but our founder, Jared Koch, shares Maria’s concerns. We do not endorse Komen over other organizations that support cancer research or provide assistance for those living with cancer. Please research any organization carefully before making a donation – a site like Charity Navigator can help.
